Back in sunny Jutland ....

It is glorious here in Tistrup today; blue skies, loads of sunshine, above freezing, not in Kazakhstan - what more can one ask for?

I arrived back last night after a somewhat difficult journey.   All my own fault so I can't really complain.  I discovered that SAS had changed their baggage allowances and I was allowed to bring back two cases each weighing up to 32Kg.  Naturally, as I can't lift even one case at 32Kg I wasn't THAT stupid, but stupid enough as I was not flying back to Billund but Copenhagen and then getting the train to Esbjerg.  I rather mistakenly thought that the train would have a baggage section - WRONG!

The rather (un)helpful guard on the intercity train insisted I put my bags in the overhead rack but naturally declined to help me.  At times like this, it does pay to be blonde (and believe me - I pay a lot to be blonde <g>).  Eventually a very nice man gave in and helped me get my two rather large and extremely heavy cases into the overhead racks.  And another very nice man helped me get them down again at Fredericia where I had to change for the local train to Esbjerg.  Interestingly the local train DOES have a baggage section so I could stow my cases in an easy and straightforward fashion (i.e. no lifting) and sit next to them.  I can't help thinking that there is a logic break-down in the the fact that the train that stops at the airport does not make adequate provision for drama queens with lots of luggage whereas the local train does!  Hey ho!

Thankfully at Esbjerg there were taxis outside the station so I could pile my stuff in and get a lift to the Maersk carpark where my car was waiting for me.  Needless to say the taxi driver (who was an incredibly nice lady) got a very large tip for being so helpful.  Then I was faced with the challenge of driving on the 'other' side of the road - at night!  I had not driven on the 'other' side for over a week and had never driven on the 'other' side at night.  Oh joy!  And there are no street lights most of the way back.  I think I must have flashed a fifth of the population of Esbjerg before I figured how to get my lights on full beam permanently, but I am happy to report that I survived the journey and made it back to the batcave safe and sound.

Mark gets back on Monday - still not sure what time yet but hopefully he will tell me at some point.  Our goods and chattels arrive from Kazakhstan on Tuesday; lots of unpacking - more joy!
