22.11.63 by Stephen King is the book of choice for this month's book club meeting. It was OK, but very, VERY long particularly when you know the ending before you start. Basically, the protagonist finds a way to go back in time and sets about trying to stop Lee Harvey Oswald killing President Kennedy. It starts off really well but then seems to get stuck in a wormhole and I felt a good 200-300 pages could have been left out.
I missed a couple of daily questions. The day before yesterday was:
The last doctor's appointment you made was because _______ ?
The last one for me was to check up a lump I have in my throat. I discovered it a few years ago while on holiday. Being at the age where the word 'lump' brings us hypochondriacs out in a cold sweat, I was initially a bit worried. Turns out that lumps on the thyroid are extremely common and mine is 'really rather boring' according to the doctor. My last appointment was a check-up just to keep an eye on it. If anything, it's getting smaller which is good news and gives my hypochondria a chance to fixate on something else!
Yesterday's question was:
Name three things you should have done today.
Well, the first was the ironing, but rather crashed and burned. The second thing was to put another coat of paint on a set of side tables I am 'upscaling' which I did and the third thing was to wax a pair of stools I had painted a few days before.
Not particularly exciting and far too many 'blobs' on it, but it will do.
Today's question is a corker: what is the last thing you felt guilty about?
Easy - during a three month stay in hospital my dad 'acquired' two grade four pressure sores. Along with a bunch of medical conditions that mean he is in really rather poor health and requires 24/7 nursing care, I decided he should go into a nursing home. It's a struggle every day to live with that one :-(.
