Can't quite believe it has been a year since I updated this blog. Last year turned out to be far more 'challenging and interesting' than I would have liked. My father's health took a turn for the worse and I spent much of 2014 keeping him out of hospital. This involved me moving back to the UK in order to look after him. This also meant I had to leave my husband on his own in Denmark. It's not ideal but it's the way it has to be at the moment. Thankfully, my dad is doing much better and while he will never be 'well' we have managed to organize things that make him comfortable and give him a reasonable quality of life.
Despite the focus on my dad there were a few other things going on in 2014. Firstly, I got to christen a drilling rig. On a sunny day in Esbjerg in June I formally named The Nobel Sam Turner.
The gentleman in the centre of the photo is Sam Turner after whom the rig is named.
The second big event was my graduation. After 10+ years of study I finally acquired a degree in English Literature with the Open University. The last two years of the course had been particularly tricky but the final year trying to cope with my father's ill health, a move back to the UK and completing the course was particularly 'challenging and interesting'. However, it all ended happily and on 20th September, which was also our sixteenth wedding anniversary, Mark and I with a bunch of friends rocked up at The Barbican to watch me dress up in a bat cape and accept my degree.
A wonderful day made truly special by all the folks that helped me celebrate.
The final highlight was moving into our new house. It is the first time in twelve years Mark and I (well, mostly I at the moment!) have lived in our own home.
Muttley seems to approve :-).
