Kona - Kilauea volcano

We took a trip out to the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park to see the Kilauea volcano which is one of the most active volcanoes in the world.  The volcano produces 250,000 - 650,000 cubic feet of lava per day and this current eruption could continue for another 100 years - or end tomorrow!  Pele is the Hawaiian goddess of the volcano.

Lava tunnels - the engineer in the family was well impressed with these.

Couldn't help wondering if these signs were examples of the American sense of humour! ;-)
