Post-Oscar's sees the inevitable glut of decent films at the cinema. I went to see the fabulous Ms Streep in Iron Lady. And yes, she was extremely good. It was very much the UK political equivalent of J. Edgar. I was a bit concerned for a wee while as Ms Streep was sounding a bit like an English version of her Julia Powell character in Julie & Julia but as the character developed into the Maggie T we all know and love (<g>) the voice deepened into the dulcet tones of the Baroness. A good film, an Oscar well-deserved I feel, unlike the farcical accolade awarded to Ms Portman in 2011!
Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol was a wonderful piece of nonsense that allowed Sarah and I to indulge in the expat hobby of 'been there' as we recognised a bunch of places where we had either lived or visited. I won't bore you with the 'plot' but Tom Cruise, with a bit of help from his chums, saves the world - again! Bless him.
Somewhat miffed that The Artist has already been and gone!!! Very huffy about that but planning to see The Descendants next week and I think The Hunger Games might warrant a viewing. Any film with characters such as Effie Trinket and Haymitch Abernathy has got to be worth a go <g>
On a slightly more cultural front Mark and I went to see Don Juan at the Musikhuset in Esbjerg. It was a pretty good production, but I did not like the way the ending was portrayed however I am really not an expert. Don Juan is on the syllabus of the course I am studying so it was interesting to see it 'live'; Mark managed to stay awake for about 1/3 of the evening ;-).
Yay, Mark! Clearly performance enhancing drugs were being used!!!!!
