So that is another festive season out of the way. I definitely feel much happier when it is all done and dusted. This year was the usual route march. We got down to Copenhagen without too many problems but the flight out was delayed so we arrived at the hotel much later than we anticipated. The hotel was great and fed us sandwiches and plied us with wine so we were happy. Christmas Eve was spent at the Trafford Centre which, as shopping centres (or malls as our colonial cousins would say <g>) go is pretty spectacular. We raced round and stocked up on a bunch of 'essentials' and went back to the hotel and stocked up on the Christmas spirit :-). Christmas Day was quiet, Boxing Day Mark went over to Knutsford to see his family. Mark was having to return much earlier than we planned so he spent Boxing Day with his family and then we both went across to see his mum on the 27th. As it snowed again that morning getting away from the hotel was a bit of nightmare as our hire car was just not up to the job of driving in such deep snow. Thankfully we made it to the motorway, but it was incredibly nerve-wracking as several times the car stopped and the wheels just spun! Fortunately dad was with us so we would not have been stranded but it was a long, hard journey even though it was only a couple of miles to the M6! Once safely in Knutsford, MiL and I did some essential CC browsing (and purchasing in my case) and had dinner at Loch Fyne which is a Wallace favourite. We flew back to Denmark on the 28th (having to get up at 3.30 a.m. to catch a 6.00 a.m. flight - hey ho!)
We saw in the New Year with friends in Esbjerg and was a lot of fun. Emma and Brent were great hosts and Mark and I graciously refrained from mentioning the cricket (Emma and Brent are Australian) for the whole evening. The fireworks at midnight were spectacular. Mark and I stayed over in a local hotel rather than one of us not drink. This was a jolly fine idea as we had a very slow, easy start to the day and wandered down to breakfast at 11 a.m. The hotel staff had thoughtfully extended the finish time to accommodate the hungover - much appreciated.

Lovely pics of you and "the boys"! (Nice hair, by the way!!)
ReplyDeleteAm I right in guessing the wind in Esbjerg was blowing left to right on New Year's Eve?
