Apparently there are all sorts of health and safety risks associated with the ancient art of apple bobbing. It appears that those of us who induldged in such activities in our youth were dicing with death! Again!! Young persons today are being advised to wear goggles when ducking; the parents of aforementioned young persons are being advised to remove stalks from the apples and use bottled water! How deeply boring.
Hallowe'en here passed with a bit of a damp squib, if I may mix my pagan and non-pagan events. I had my sweets at the ready, pumpkin candles burning nicely, silly headband with flying bats donned and not one f*ck*r turned up. Hey ho. Of course if I had not prepared anything, they would have been here in their hordes.
Anyway, to complete the Dorothy Parker quotation in the title, 'change one letter, and it's the story of my life.' Awesome <g>

Does Denmark do Hallowe'en? Bit of a silly question in the light of your post, I know, but ....
ReplyDeleteHere in France Hallowe'en is something of a Germano-Danish mug tree. The big thing here is "Toussaint" - All Saint's Day on 1st November, when almost everybody goes and puts chrysanthemums on the family graves.
