We had a bunch of folks over for dinner last night and no-one left in an ambulance - this is the benchmark by which I evaluate all my dinner parties. As long as I don't poison anyone it's a good night! I don't think they were bowled over by the quality of the food but I kept their glasses toppped up which seemed to be greatly appreciated. I work on the basis that the dissatisfaction with mediocre food diminishes in direct proportion to the amount of wine consumed. This theory has served me well over the years.
Oh, you must be getting old!
